Ever since his wife was burned in a car crash, Dr. Robert Ledgard (Antonio Banderas), an eminent plastic surgeon, has been interested in creating a new skin with which he could have saved her. After twelve years, he manages to cultivate a skin that is a real shield against every assault. In addition to years of study and experimentation, Robert needed a further three things: no scruples, an accomplice and a human guinea pig. The Skin I Live In is directed by Pedro Almodóvar, and was nominated for 16 Goyas (Spain's equivalent of the Academy Award); for a Golden Globe as Best Foreign Language Film; and for the Palme d'or at last year's Cannes Film Festival.

On the eve of World War I, Zurich and Vienna are the setting for a dark tale of sexual and intellectual discovery.  Drawn from true-life events, A Dangerous Method (directed by David Cronenberg) takes a glimpse into the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), his mentor Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) and Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), the troubled but beautiful young woman who comes between them. Into the mix comes Otto Gross (Vincent Cassel), a debauched patient who is determined to push the boundaries. In this exploration of sensuality, ambition and deceit set the scene for the pivotal moment when Jung, Freud and Sabina come together and split apart, forever changing the face of modern thought.

The time is 1973. The Cold War of the mid-20th Century continues to damage international relations. Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), a.k.a. MI6 and code-named the Circus, is striving to keep pace with other countries’ espionage efforts and to keep the U.K. secure. When things go awry, it's up to top lieutenant, George Smiley (Gary Oldman), a career spy with razor-sharp senses, to get things back on track.  From the novel by John Le Carré. The film was nominated for 11 BAFTA awards, and won for Outstanding British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay.  On this side of the Atlantic, Gary Oldman has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor.  The screenplay and the score have also received Oscar nominations.

One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.  The film stars Meryl Streep (winner of the BAFTA award for Best Actress and nominated for an Oscar) and Jim Broadbent.

In his exhilarating new film, German master Wim Wenders (Wings of Desire, The Buena Vista Social Club) captures the brilliantly inventive dance world of legendary choreographer Pina Bausch. Sensual and visually stunning, Pina takes the audience into Bausch’s work in her imaginative sets and powerfully renders the beauty and sheer physicality of the dances and dancers of her Tanztheater Wuppertal ensemble. Pina was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
